A Piece de Resistance

Seven Oaks—an upscale, award winning, private, gated community in Bakersfield, California—is the locale for a grand scale project by Susan Anspach of FauxFX by Susan Anspach, Bakersfield, CA. For more than two years, this estate was beautified by Susan, and is now a true” Piece de Résistance.” This exquisite home is one of six featured in the 2008 Bakersfield Showcase House of Design Tour which includes six bedrooms, six baths, a gorgeously appointed outdoor kitchen and living area with expansive views of the golf course, lake and scenic bridge. Truly a spectacular setting.

The Seven Oaks process began with an inquiry telephone call to Faux FX by Susan Anspach, asking Susan if she could refinish existing kitchen cabinets. Susan’s response was, “Of course!” Although the cabinetry was painted and glazed when home was originally constructed, the finish had apparently been processed with solvent-based materials, and in less than three years, it inconsistently discolored in many areas, some more than others. The original off-white glazed finish now was several different shades of yellow–certainly a candidate demanding re-finishing! The current refinished kitchen cabinetry (with Faux Effects® products), has been in the home nearly as long as the original finish, and it still looks as good and new as the day the project was completed...
