PrimEtch™

PrimEtch™ – the perfect start for hard-to-paint surfaces, like ceramic tile, glass and this pedestal sink. Amy Monville of Sur-face, LLC in Northern Michigan changed an ordinary white pedestal sink into something extraordinary, complementing the nautical-themed mirror.

After taping off stripes and accents, Amy applied an even coat of PrimEtch™ and let it dry at least 24 hours before applying various colors of SetCoat® and SetCoat® Metallics (C-500™ sealed the surface for maximum protection). PrimEtch™ does not “etch” the surfaces like caustic acids; it bonds to slick surfaces, where conventional primers may scratch off. Versatile PrimEtch™ also performs exceptionally well as a transfer coat for applying Custom Art Imprints™ and leafing materials.

Fun Project of the Month!

A storage room under a stairwell was converted to this cute dog room!

Old basement composite vinyl tile was cleaned and sanded with a scotchbrite pad and TSP twice, followed with a thorough rinsing.

The floor was very dry before painting.

Two coats of Black SetCoat® were applied and dried overnight before adding paw prints.

Dog paw prints were hand painted using White FauxCreme Color™. When dry, a coat of AquaGard™ Gloss was used as a barrier coat.

For maximum protection, two coats of C-500™ Satin was applied; the first coat was thinned 30% with water followed 12 hours later with a full strength coat.

Dog beds are made with wood and PVC panels, painted with Black SetCoat® and topcoated with C-500™ Satin. PVC pipes were prepped with PrimEtch™ followed with FauxMetal™ Silver.

ENJOY!!!
